We spent a LONG time debating over furniture options for the new, very green home my husband's company designed and built for our family of three. This was in large part because my laundry list of requirements had persisted as impossible to fulfill. The couch or sectional had to be beautiful, sleek and modern....and big enough to accommodate all of us...and cleanable....and affordable...and, most challengingly, reasonably free of toxins that might have detrimental effects on our health and environment. That last one was tough until last year, when the State of California changed the requirements for flame retardants (nasty chemicals for the most part) in furniture. Then this winter came, and we found Joybird.
The great folks at Joybird- unlike at the MANY other manufacturers we had tried to work with- were able to give us up front and open answers about how our furniture would be made, what chemicals it would (or, in this case, wouldn't) be treated with, and let me tell you that the transparency was refreshing. Since businesses aren't required by law to tell you what is is home furnishings (which seems crazy to me), this was a revelation.
And have you seen this couch? It is absolutely stunning. We couldn't be happier, and even if our budget had been triple what it was I couldn't have found anything better made or more lovely. Every step- from ordering fabric samples to the sooner-than-promised delivery- was easy, pleasant, and professional. Even last week when I had to call Joybird to ask about how to clean the fabric (which has been liberally soiled by our toddler, among others)- the representative spent quite a bit of effort looking into it and sending me all the info I could possibly need.
Their designs are striking and functional, the fabrics are some of the best I've seen anywhere, and the construction is solid and beautiful. And we all fit on it. And it's a happy addition to a home we're trying to keep as healthy as possible for the little ones crawling around in it. We could not be happier, and I recommend this couch and this company wholeheartedly. We'll be using them again.

Joybird had me from the get-go with their website which gave off such a friendly vibe with their cool mid-century designs, reasonable prices, and local and eco-friendly production. It made me feel safe about ordering something so frequently used without seeing it, feeling it or trying it out first. Now that we have the sectional sofa in our living room, we love it. It's roomy with deep seats, well-constructed, and very handsome. Our teenage daughters even seem to spend more time out here with us rather then in their bedrooms! The customer service was great and very personalized. I got a personal phone call confirming the order details and a thank you card after delivery signed by all the workers involved.
