Construction Details

Frame: Kiln dried hardwood. Once assembled, frames are wrapped in 2lb foam exceeding industry standards. Made with responsibly-sourced wood.
Legs: Solid beech
Suspension: Seat - zig zag springs. Back - Poly Webbing
Joints: Glued, stapled and screwed to ensure frame stability and longevity.
Assembly: None
Style: Loose back; loose seat
Cushions: Contain no flame retardants or harmful chemicals.
Glue and Stains: Water-based, low-VOC

Product Care

Vacuum: Vacuum regularly with a vacuum attachment.
Cushions: Flip & rotate removable cushions to ensure even wear and increase longevity of your cushions.
Sunlight: Do not expose upholstered pieces to direct sunlight.
Spot Cleaning: Use a cleaning product that corresponds with your fabric's cleaning code. Always blot stains; never rub. Use a clean, dry, white cloth.
Cleaning Code W: Water. Use only water based cleaning products.
Cleaning Code S: Solvent. Use only water free cleaning solvents.

I love my new Calhoun sofa! It's solid, and the design is super clean. The cushions are firm, and solidly sewn. The fabric, while sort of tweedy, isn't overly knobbly at all and doesn't seem like it's going to get snagged by the dog's claws or anyone's jewelry. I like the arm rest height, I'm sitting with my legs folded, laptop on my lap, and I can comfortably rest my elbow on the armrest while I type. It's also really deep, which is nice because 2 people can lay on it without having to remove any of the back cushions. I like that the style isn't overly dated MCM so it can also just go in a more modern styled room without feeling kitschy.

We were skeptical about ordering a sofa online, but had a great experience! This sofa is in our great room, so we wanted a bold, bright fabric that could handle our toddler. The Lucky Turquoise is beautiful! Not only do we love the color, but the sofa is soft yet firm, plus we can flip the cushions around if we need to. We don't like how at the bottom on the front frame, the upholstery starts to look "bunched", and I've been trying to figure out if that's the design or because of the fabric we used. Other than that, we love our sofa and it's big enough to fit the whole family!

I was probably the first customer to buy a Calhoun sofa from Joybird way back in the winter of 2014. The cushions have stood up to higher than average wear since this sofa is placed in the main area of a photo studio that doubles as a general living area. The cushions are not overly firm but not super squishy soft either. They are the most comfortable I've sat on and show zero signs of wear/sagging. I have met with hundreds of clients over the year and while I meet regularly to discuss photography, the sofa usually steals the show. The fabric I've chosen is the cordova one and it has a nice texture from a visual standpoint but is not rough to the touch at all. I have slept on this sofa and daydream about having a queen size mattress made out of the cushions. The staff I dealt with on phone, chat, and email were all friendly, down to earth and professional. I work as a wedding photographer and after getting countless compliments on the couch, I have recommended this entire company to engaged couples.

I'd been looking around for a sofa for a long time but couldn't commit to anything until I found this website. I love mid-century furniture, and I love my new Calhoun sofa in Key Largo zenith teal. I loved the option to pay now and select the fabric later (allowing you to take advantage of sales). The cushions are on the firm side, but I like that. I like that it is really deep, which is perfect for napping. It is very comfortable. The movers that brought it in commented that it was "different" and really well-made, which is exactly what I was looking for.
