I happened upon the Joybird name after seeing it mentioned in a review. I looked up the website and knew this was the place I needed to be to find the mid-century modern furniture for my small 1950 ranch house. I can only find the overstuffed faux Tuscan furniture in my area stores, and I absolutely hate that stuff! I knew that I was either going to have to travel to a large city to find what I wanted or buy online.

After months of indecision about what Joybird sofa and chair design I wanted to live with, I ended up choosing the Hopson design. I had the standard size (85”) sofa made in the Bentley Pewter material and absolutely love it. The Pewter fabric was on backorder, so I did wait a few weeks extra to have the sofa made. This was not a problem for me as I did have other work to complete on the house prior to moving in furniture. The Pewter color is a mid to dark grey, and the fabric is a heavy velvet-like material that was on the pet friendly list. I have already had a cat try and use it as a scratching post, and it is pretty tough stuff. There was one thread that came loose; I trimmed it off and you can’t tell that my evil cat tried to destroy my new couch.

The sofa has a deep seating area which is fine as my husband and I are tall. It may be a little too deep for shorter people. It sits very firm and high and has low arms and a low back. If you are looking for a deep cushy, enveloping sofa, this is not your model. I am having to get used to the firmness and low back after having the plusher, deeper style sofa. I just use some nice throw pillows behind my back and it works great. I have also slept on it, and it makes a fabulous bed. Take the back cushions off and it almost the size of a twin bed.

The sofa is very well made. Because of its simple straight lines in design and linear pattern of the Bentley fabric, any flaws in the upholstery or frame would show up easily. There are no such flaws in this piece of furniture. The fabric is sewn perfectly. The wood frame is quite sturdy and evenly stained (walnut). It is a substantial piece of furniture. I had a slight issue when the movers lost one of the small plastic caps on one of the legs. He could not find it after he unwrapped the sofa and looked through the packaging. I just contacted customer service and they are sending one to me so the sofa sits evenly.

I have chatted, called and e-mailed the Joybird staff a few times with questions, and all of the people have been helpful and friendly. I am happy that my furniture is made in the U.S. and that I can contact the company directly with issues. I am sure that some people would say that the products are expensive, but after pricing similar products that weren’t made in the country and have limited choices for upholstery, I am quite happy to have spent my money to get this high quality sofa made exactly as I wanted it. Here’s wishing great success to the Joybird company!

My wife and I had never seen Joybird furniture in person, but the web pictures looked way cooler than the stuff we could find in town, so we took a chance. That chance paid off with a very nice sofa that meets all of our expectations.

We asked for the "white glove" delivery, and the delivery guy was great to work with, but he was alone, so I'm not sure what he would have done if we wanted the sofa upstairs? Fortunately for both of us, I was there for the delivery, and the sofa was destined for a room downstairs.

Packaging was better than expected, and everything arrived in good condition. The feet were pointed in odd directions, but a little elbow grease got them straightened out. Otherwise, there's not much to do--remove some cardboard and foam, position (and re-position) to your partner's tastes, and then kick back and enjoy.

The cushions are somewhat firm compared to popular overstuffed furniture, but that's our preference. My wife noted that the seat is quite deep for her, so she prefers a throw pillow behind her back if there's nothing to put her feet up on. Predictably, the cat loves it and does his best to cover it with cat hair :P.

Bottom line: it's a sharp-looking, comfortable couch at a competitive price, and Joybird is super easy to work with. Win!

Absolutely adore this couch. It's comfortable, sturdy, and beautiful. The Joybird team were an absolutely joy to deal with– from helping me pick out a couch that would fit through the narrow doors of my apartment to arranging the shipment and delivery over here with no hiccups (and even about a week sooner than expected!). Delivered it was straight up everything I wanted and expected, and I'm not indulging in any hyperbole when I say that.
I would absolutely buy from Joybird again, just gotta save up some more dough.

The couch itself is a solid piece of craftsmanship. It's a gorgeous sofa that not only looks stylish, but is extremely comfortable as well—a true win-win. I've spent a good portion of my weekend on it, and couldn't be more content. I look forward to adding a matching arm chair soon!

Nice and wide. Pleasantly firm. Love stretching out on this sofa. Vibe Passion fabric is getting a few cat scratches, but they aren't terribly noticeable.

So worth the wait! This piece made a gorgeous addition to our original 1950's home. In trying to keep the home with a mid-century feel, the Hopson Sofa & Loveseat fit right in. The elegance, sleek lines and clean look make it a head turner for sure!

I love my Hopson Sofa! It's nice and comfy and the Lucky Turquoise color gives my living room such a pop! When dealing with costumer service they were great and very helpful. My sofa was delivered in a timely manner and I would definitely purchase more furniture with them in the near future.

We ordered the Hopson sofa and 2 Hopson chairs to accompany the remodel of our midcentury ranch home. It goes perfectly with our decor and home. If you're nervous about ordering furniture online and not being able to try it out first, DON'T BE! We LOVE everything about our furniture. Customer service is spot on and we will definitely order any future furniture from Joybird!
